NEW DELHI: Facebook-owned WhatsApp is working on a new feature for Android users. As reported by WABetaInfo, the app is testing a new feature which will make it more secure for the users.

As spotted by WABetaInfo, the Android version 2.20.66 of the app will come with a new feature called Protect Backup. The feature is in advance developmental stage and is not available right now and the company has not yet revealed a timeline of its rollout.

Coming to the feature, Protect Backup is aimed to protect your chat backup, which is hosted on Google Drive. As per WABetaInfo, the feature allows users to encrypt their chat backup with a password so that nobody (WhatsApp or Google) is able to see its content.

The Twitter account further highlights that in case a user loses the password used to encrypt the database then he will not be able to restore his chat history. However, users will have the choice of using or not using the feature.

Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp beta for Android brings additional ‘Solid Colour’ options for the Dark theme. The solid colour options on the app allow users to replace the default light colour background with other colour options. The wallpapers are all in accordance with the dark theme of the app and reflect dark tones of Purple, Maroon, Brown, Blue, and Olive. Besides these five, there is also a solid Black colour option as well.

You can find these dark theme-compatible wallpapers under Settings> Chats> Wallpaper> Solid Colour. Notably, you will see these new six wallpapers only if you have selected the dark theme first. If your WhatsApp app is currently operating on the light theme, you will see over 25 wallpapers in sync with the light theme of the app.
