With most of the hardware focused events done and dusted for the year it’s time to turn our attention to software ones, and in particular Apple’s WWDC (3rd to 7th June) where developers will get to experience the latest macOS and iOS operating systems.

While no firm details are known right now, 9to5Mac‘s Guilherme Rambo has a few sources close to iOS 13 who have spilled the beans.

More specifically it’s rumoured that iOS 13 will finally introduce a long awaited dark mode for the mobile operating system, as well as having a higher contrast version for mac users. Said dark mode will be embedded somewhere in the settings, and should offer a far better solution to night time iOS use than simply turning on night mode or inverting the colours.

Added to dark mode will be the reported introduction of multi-windows, which we’re assuming is aimed more squarely at the iPad Pro than iPhone owner. With the latter lacking a robust OS, as some Windows 10 supporting tablets do, adding more multitasking features is certainly a good idea for iOS 13.

These windows are also said to contain notes that can be attached and moved around the screen, as well as stacked atop one another in specific orders.

Some of the other rumoured additions to iOS 13 include a new undo gesture which is said to be far more user friendly, which will involve a three finger swipe to bring up the undo or redo option, and swiping left or right to undo or redo respectively.

A few improvements are also slated for the Mail and Safari apps, with a focus on productivity and collaboration, according to Rambo. Precisely how that will be achieved though, remains to be seen.

With WWDC 19 a few weeks away, we won’t have to wait long to see what Apple has been cooking up for iOS and macOS, not to mention with that have in store for tvOS given their recent announcements around Apple TV.
