Looks like Nokia is branching out of smartphones and has now entered a new market – Smart TVs. To be specific though, it’s more like the company is licensing its name to third-party retailers in order to branch into this new market.
In this case, Indian company Flipkart was given the OK to use the Nokia brand for their Smart TVs. Flipkart is a major e-commerce retailer in India, so this is a big step for Nokia to start brancing out their brand.
In terms of specs, the 55-inch Nokia Ultra HD (4K) LED Smart Android is powered by a PureX quad-core processor and 2.25 GB of RAM. The TV will include two 24-watt speakers as part of a sound system from JBL by Harman, which is part of another partnership arrangement. It will also run on Android 9 Pie and includes a 16:9 display with a 60Hz refresh rate, support for Dolby Vision and HDR10, three HDMI ports, and two USB ports.
The device is set to start sales on December 10, 2019. In India it will be priced at INR₹41,999 (~MYR2457) and there’s no word if we will be seeing any other Nokia Android TVs in other countries.
